"Polk’s America" Lecture Series

Historian Russell Hooper will present the free public program "Commander Matthew Fontaine Maury and the Founding of the United States Naval Academy" at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church adjacent to the Polk Sisters' House.


Bloodys & Biscuits

The Polk Home will serve ham biscuits and bloody marys in our gardens from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. before Columbia's Mule Day parade.


Homeschool History Day

Homeschoolers are invited to participate in this special event that includes a site tour as well as participatory activities that relate to Tennessee frontier life.

The President James K. Polk Home and Museum will host our annual Bloodys & Biscuits fundraiser on Saturday morning, April 1 from 9:00-11:00. Guests will be served ham biscuits and bloody marys in the gardens while enjoying musical entertainment. Non-alcoholic beverages and children’s snacks will also be available. The event will immediately precede Columbia’s Mule Day parade which will begin at 11:00 and go past the Polk Home.

The admission price per adult (age 21 and older) will be $30 on April 1.  Younger attendees (ages 3-20) will be charged $5. Children who are younger than age 3 will receive free admission. 

Advance tickets for adults are available through March 31 for $25 at the Polk Home's front desk.  Tickets may also be purchased by mail at the advance rate with a check payable to the James K. Polk Memorial Association, P.O. Box 741, Columbia, TN  38402.  (Please send mail orders by March 20.)

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
