Tennessee Time Traveler Camp

June 17th – 21st | Rising 3rd-6th graders

What does it take to be elected President of the United States? In this fun camp, Polk’s career in all three branches of government, his laws, trials and more will be discussed through the lens of civics and leadership. Campers will learn about the working of government through Polk’s achievements, and recreate some of the exciting features of his career, including mock trials, designing a campaign for governor and more. In addition to engaging activities, campers will hear from local and state lawmakers and craft their own stump speech!

Leadership & Civics Camp

June 24th – 28th | Rising 7th-12th graders

James K. Polk’s final address to Congress in December of 1848 confirmed the discovery of gold in California and set off a rush of Americans from places like Middle Tennessee searching for riches. Through a week of hands-on activities, we’ll learn about life during the California Gold Rush! Gold Rush Camp will feature many Polk Academy favorites like fireplace cooking and candle dipping. And yes, we’ll be panning for gold!
