Shaping a Nation Speaker Series

Join us for the final event in our “Shaping a Nation” Speaker Series.

Over 300 Civil War generals served as lower grade officers a decade and a half earlier in the Mexican-American War.  For most of them, Mexico was their first experience in combat, and what they saw and learned must have informed decision making when they later became corps and army commanders.  Tim Johnson will discuss the Mexican War experiences of some of the most prominent Civil War generals and speculate on lessons learned regarding strategy, tactics, supply and relationships.

The “Shaping a Nation” Speaker Series is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the church parking lot (behind the church, between Frierson Street and Walker Street). To enter the Parish Hall, use the stairway at the front of the parking lot. Please RSVP through Eventbrite.
