Polk’s America Lecture Series
Polk’s America is a free monthly lecture series that is open to the public. Each month a different speaker presents a program on a topic related to the first half of the 19th century. To see the 2013 schedule, click here.
Distance Learning for Teachers and Schools Classrooms
The Polk Home now offers online, interactive educational programs through teleconferencing. Now teachers and students can participate in a class with the Polk Home’s Curator on James K. Polk, Polk and Slavery, and Sarah Polk, with additional programs available soon. Our team can work with schools that have a Tandberg or Polycom unit, and can accommodate other options as well. The Polk Home staff is particularly interested in connecting to classrooms that cannot afford the cost or time of a trip to the Polk Home. For more information, click here or contact Curator Tom Price at (931) 388-2354.
Free Community Outreach
The Polk Home offers free outreach programs for local nursing homes and senior citizen centers. Our staff members also serve as guest speakers for area civic organizations. To schedule a program, call (931) 388-2354.
