Following the guidance of local, state and federal officials, the President James K Polk Home and Museum will remain closed to the public at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation and will announce a date for reopening when it is deemed safe to do so.

Adapting for Success During Closure

The doors are closed, but the mission continues!

Our staff is committed to the continued care of the collection and to finding creative new ways to share our site with the public.

While the Polk Home is closed to visitors, we are taking the opportunity for deep cleaning and completing collections condition reports. We are also hard at work translating exhibitions, programming, and education online.

During this challenging period and beyond, these new skills and ideas will allow us to reach a wider audience, adapting to the new reality nonprofits everywhere are now facing.
