Voices of the Past

In collaboration with Watershed Public Theatre, the Polk Home will offer special evening tours featuring costumed interpreters portraying widowed First Lady Sarah Polk and other Polk family members.

Dr. James Senefeld will present the free public program "The Unusual Career of Emperor Norton I of California" at 7 p.m.at St. Peter's Episcopal Church adjacent to the Polk Sisters' House in downtown Columbia.

On Saturday evening, October 19, the President James K. Polk Home will collaborate with Watershed Public Theatre to present "Voices of the Past: Candlelight Tours with Sarah Polk."  This special after-dark experience at the Polk Home will invite guests into the parlor of a widowed Sarah Polk as she recalls memories from her past. Costumed interpreters will introduce guests to other Polk family members who called Columbia home, sharing their stories of life and loss over 200 years ago.

30-minute tours will begin at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your tour time. Space is limited!

$15 per guest for adults and children 7 years and older. Family-friendly!

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
