Historic firearms collector David Whitson Barr will present the free public program "Wheel-guns, Breechloaders, Flinters, and Cap-locks" at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church adjacent to the Polk Sisters' House.

The President James K. Polk Home will host “The Gardens of Columbia,” a self-guided walking tour of some of Columbia’s oldest and nicest home gardens, on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The tour will include:

  • admission to the gardens at six private homes as well as the gardens at the Polk Home and the Athenaeum;
  • floral demonstrations at 1 p.m. at the Polk Home presented by Connie Hardin and Maggie Olson on Friday and by Jackson Blume Studio on Saturday
  • tea and wine served in the Polk Home’s gardens from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on both days.

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
