On Thursday, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the President James K. Polk Home will host an opening celebration for "Crafted by Conscience: Material and Belief in Polk's America," the new temporary exhibition at Polk Presidential Hall.  The admission charge will be $5 per adult.  Children under age 18 will receive free admission.
"Crafted by Conscience" shows  the vibrant and vital role religion played in James K. Polk's life and times. From 1820-1850, a national flowering of faith impacted everything from clothing to politics as Americans created a unique material culture born from their religious worldview.
Visitors are invited to explore some of the diverse religious groups who experienced roots or revival in this period through the things they made or used in this original exhibition featuring objects from sixteen museums and institutions across the country.  For additional information, call (931) 388-2354.

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
