“A Right Happy Christmas”: Holidays in the Polks’ Era is on display in Polk Presidential Hall from November 16, 2018 through January 6, 2019. Featuring artifacts from the Polk Home’s collections including the Polk family Bible and White House china, the exhibition shows how the Polks and other Americans in the 1800s observed the holidays. Visitors can explore the 19th-century roots of many familiar Christmas traditions and learn how President and Mrs. Polk celebrated (or didn’t celebrate) the holidays in Tennessee and the White House.
The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.
Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
