Contest participants are invited to enter LEGO creations inspired by Maury County's historic architecture. The entries will be on public display at the President James K. Polk Home and Museum from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

"Polk's America" Lecture Series

Retired English professor Dr. James Senefeld will present the free public program "The Education of Children: Morality Tales in Textbooks and Literature in Polk's America" at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church adjacent to the Polk Sisters' House.

The President James K. Polk Home and Museum annually offers half-price admission on Presidents' Day weekend (Saturday- Monday).  On Saturday and Monday, the site is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The Sunday hours are 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. 

The Polk Home also offers half-price or free admission on other special occasions including free admission for mothers on Mother's Day, for fathers on Father's Day, for veterans and active personnel of the U.S. Armed Forces on Veterans Day, and for everyone on the first Sunday in November (to celebrate President Polk's birthday).  For additional information, call (931) 388-2354.

Location

The James K. Polk Home and Museum is located at 301 W. 7th Street in downtown Columbia, TN.

Free parking is available in the lot across 7th Street or along High Street on the east side of the main house.
